“Turning Minutes into Goddamn Hours” is an Instagram Reel exclusive music video that was created with the inspiration to be the embodiment of a fever dream. After getting COVID and being confined to a week-long nap, Smith recorded the bizarre song in an attempt to address the isolation and loneliness experienced when days turn to nights with no social contact. The vocals were recorded that same day in a parked car behind a grocery store, directly into the built-in microphone of a 2020 MacBook Pro.
